I’ve been working with Keegan Theatre for about 7 years before tackling their logo redesign. It was really more of an annoyance on my part of them not having updated their branding in general. The logo featured the outline of Ireland geography to suggest their Irish roots. I thought this was a bit in your face and not all that relevant to what they offer the viewing audience. And with a 10th anniversary coming up, this was a great opportunity to suggest some needed changes. After the anniversary, they never went back to the original logo with the map of Ireland. The above design, incorporating the location, became their new identity.
Here are some of the ideas we explored for the logo:
The badge was used in a few items. The image below was made into posters and mailers announcing the upcoming season. And they ended up online as well. I also helped them out with their website redesign later on which takes advantage of the new direction.
Since I work with Keegan on a regular basis, the identity continues to evolve. Once they started to generate some video promotions, a bumper was needed. The sound for the animation below is an original provided by Matt Rippetoe.
